Reluctant Riser

leaping out of bed?

hardly — more like a slow crawl,

one toe at a time

This one brought a real chuckle to me this morning Sally :). I’m the leap out of bed kinda gal. When I wake up I’m totally awake and Don’s just the opposite. Here’s what I wrote about him just yesterday in my journal:
Don wakes every morning like the slow sunrise. His brain holds tightly to sleep as the night gives up to day. His starter switch grumbles in monosyllables when answering my cheery “Good morning!” I call him Mr. Cottonhead as he shuffles to the bathroom and back to bed, pulling the covers tightly to his chin. How Don’s mama ever got him up and off to school is a wonder. Eyes still shut, his internal French horn is nevertheless engaged as a new “to do” list winds its way to consciousness. Mr. Cottonhead’s slow sunrise has begun.
